Parent Participation Program
Parent Participation is a family-focused, integrated-approach to learning.
Parenting is a joy and a challenge. Come with your infant, toddler or preschooler to an adult and child activity class or find support in a class for parents only. All adults in a parenting role – mom, dad, grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend or nanny – are welcome.
This program will encourage you to:
Participate with your child and other children in a group setting.
Allow you and your child to interact with other children and adults.
Listen to and learn from expert community guest speakers.
Learn what activities are age appropriate and help you develop and implement those activities.
Take an active role in your child’s early education
We have three types of classes:
Parent Participation- an activity class held in a preschool classroom setting. Classes are organized by the children’s age and focus on the developmental stages of the children. Classes include indoor and outdoor play and a parent education discussion group.
Cooperative Preschool – offers you the opportunity to take an active role in your child’s preschool. Parents work in the classroom one day a week while their children attend three days a week.
Parent Education - classes for parents only that meet in the evenings or on Saturdays. These classes are held at school campuses throughout the San Luis Coastal Unified School District.
Parent Participation and Cooperative Preschool classes are taught by instructors holding California teaching credentials.
Classes are held in San Luis Obispo at the Adult School and CL Smith Elementary, in Los Osos at Sunnyside Elementary and in Morro Bay at Morro Elementary.
